At last the IFW 2011 features list has been stamped and approved.

Thank you to everyone who sent messages suggesting subject areas and topics you’d like us to focus on next year. We’ve taken a lot of your suggestions onboard and, hopefully, have produced a features list that will really benefit your business. The entire list will be published online (on the IFW site) on Monday.

In January, we’ll be looking at the following areas:
Supply chain security
Rate Management
Technology
Transportation management

Producing video podcasts for IFW

IFW is going to be featuring video podcasts at the end of year looking at ‘Freight and Logistics in 2011′.

We are looking for industry professionals who would like to contribute to these podcasts. Essentially, it will involve you producing a 3 – 5 minute video discussing what you think the main challenges and opportunities of 2011 will be. The video’s will be featured on the IFW site and promoted to our subscribers all over the world. If you would like to produce a video podcast for IFW, please get in touch at: editorial@ifw-net.com and I will send you a brief.

when is the right time for surcharges?

When is it appropriate for lines to impose a congestion surcharge on shippers using a port? Lines traditionally say whenever they are delayed. Ports say it should only be imposed when there are unforeseen problems (so not when the port is just busy). What do you think?

Football tournament

Apparently there are legal implications to be considered when using the words ‘World Cup’ or even ‘South Africa 2010’ in any promotion. This fact notwithstanding, IFW will be producing articles and features that have a ‘football tournament in a southern Africa country’ flavour over the next four weeks or so.
